MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys varsity soccer team suffered their first Interstate 8 Conference loss in two years, falling Thursday in their season opener at Marshall 2-1, as part of the Bird Bowl.
The Redhawks scored the opening goal with 13:25 to play in the first half, then went up 2-0 with another goal just 6 minutes into the second half. Coldwater got a goal back with 23 minutes to play from Nasser Nagi, assisted by Tyler Kooi.
Balal Nasser made 4 saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Marshall 8-6.
The loss dropped Coldwater to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will play in non conference action at Battle Creek Central next Tuesday.
The Coldwater JV team fell at Marshall 5-1. Cade Lawrence scored for the Cardinals.
