Six Coldwater Board of Public Utilities service employees will be heading to Florida on Saturday to assist with power restoration efforts which are expected to take place following the devastation left behind by Hurricane Irma.
The BPU says Journeyman Linemen Steve Barone and Jory Watson, Apprentice Linemen Eric Green and Jarret Wolford, and Service Electricians Kerry Skinner and Glen Raymond volunteered to assist when Coldwater got the call for mutual aid assistance.
They will head to Tallahassee initially and are expected to help with restoration efforts for 10 days.
According to a press release from the City of Coldwater, several other BPU employees volunteered to go.
BPU Director Paul Beckhusen met with the six staff members on Friday to review safety measures and discuss the logistics of the trip.
Beckhusen stated to the crew, “I express a tremendous amount of gratitude to everyone from our organization that volunteered when that request became a call to action yesterday. I am very proud of all of our employees and the commitment you have to the public power roots of our organization. You have my upmost respect and you are the DNA of our organization.”
