COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With deer hunting season just around the corner, hunters are being told they should still be aware of Chronic Waste Disease.
Branch County Commissioner Terri Norris, who also serves on the Community Health Agency Board of Health, told County Commissioners on Thursday that CHA Medical Director Lauren Vogel provided an update on the disease during the Board of Health meeting earlier in the day.
No documents cases have been reported yet in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties. Norris said hunters should be aware of the symptoms and not harvest animals that have the disease.
The data from 2013 have not shown any CWD transmittals to humans but public health surveillance continues.
