COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Plans to build a new fountain in the southeast quadrant of Four Corners Park have been defeated for a second consecutive meeting following another tied vote by the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
The unexpected vote came about near the end of the meeting when councilman John Petzko re introduced the resolution for another vote during unfinished business
Petzko likened the decision to vote against the fountain to when he says the council wanted to table marijuana issue when it first became reality in Michigan
Councilman James Knaack was one of the no votes
The deadlock leaves the future of the proposed downtown fountain uncertain, as council members remain split on the project’s financial timing. With the council remaining deadlocked at its latest session, the project cannot move forward, leaving city officials to determine whether to revise the proposal or shelve the fountain plans permanently.
