COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The sale of property at 124 Marshall is on Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting agenda.
After the Coldwater City Council voted last month to place a $1,000 offer from Branch County Habitat for Humanity to purchase the property on the table for 30 days under terms of the City Charter, the city got a counter offer from a neighbor.
Steven Rutz stepped forward and made an offer of $1,100. Habitat raised their offer to $1,500 but when Rutz went to $1,600, Habitat dropped out.
The City Council can pick either offer at their discretion which they feel is in the best interest of the city.
In turn, Habitat has made a $500 offer to buy a vacant lot at 136 South Clay. Just like in the sale of the property on Marshall, the offer has to be placed on the table for 30 days under terms of the city charter. Habitat hopes to build a new house on the South Clay site after a run down home on the property was demolished late
