COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a summer of mostly dry weather, October was rather soggy around Branch County.
As of Friday, the website www.accuweather.com says it has rained in Coldwater 19 out of the last 31 days. That includes a stretch over the last couple of weeks in which it rained nine out of 11 days.
The final October rainfall total for Coldwater was 4.78 inches, which is about a one-and-a-half inches above normal for the month.
The October rain was only about a half inch below the entire amount of precipitation from June 1 through the end of September when only 5.32 inches was measured in Coldwater.
Thanks to all of the rain in October, Branch County is no longer considered to be abnormally dry as it had been this summer by the U.S. Drought Monitor service.
Showers are expected to move back in on Saturday. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Sunday and the National Weather Service says those storms could produce heavy rain. Branch County is also in area that is considered to have a slight risk of severe weather.
