BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson has received a grant from Consumers Energy to help offset the cost of planting 20 trees in Greenwald, Douglas and Kiwanis Park.
The new trees replace ones that had be removed because of the Emerald Ash Borer.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the city has been slowly replacing the lost trees over the years and the grant will go a long way towards replacing them.
The grant will also replace three dead trees in Greenwald Park which will be removed.
The tree species and planting locations were selected using the Right Tree Right Place guidelines.
For the grant, the City has partnered with Backyard Kreations for the purchase and planting of the trees. Backyard Kreations has agreed to donate the labor to dig and auger the holes to plant the trees.
