COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A busy agenda awaits the Coldwater City Council for their meeting Monday night.
The agenda includes a request from Envirolite on Race Street to set a public hearing for the February 26 Council meeting on their application for a 12 year Industrial Facilities Tax Abatement as part of a $2.1 million expansion of its manufacturing facility.
The company says the expansion project will allow them to stay competitive in their current location. They are hoping to maintain 55 positions and hire 15 additional workers over the next two years.
The Council will also be asked to approve budget amendments in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget that will increase the deficit by about $70,000 to nearly $169,000. City Manager Keith Baker says in his memo to the Council that the city is increasing its 2018 defined benefit payments to the Municipal Employees Retirement System by $125,000 to reduce anticipated future cost increases. Baker says this was discussed during a recent council workshop session and represents the single largest increase to this years budget.
The bid for this years Street Maintenance work in the city is also scheduled to be awarded. Strawser Construction submitted the low bid of over $218,000.
