COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Valentine’s Day will come early again this year for local veterans and hospice patients who today will feel an expression of love thanks to annual project organized by the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club.
For more than a decade, the Club has donated and its members prepared food and candy baskets for distribution to the patients and veterans. Thirty of the baskets with fresh apples, oranges and wrapped candy are delivered by Home Health and Hospice nurses. Ten of the baskets go to Branch County Veterans Affairs Counselor Charles Scott for distribution, while five baskets are taken to the Union City American Legion for veterans in need in that area.
Each basket features a hand made Valentine’s card, with the cards made by students in the third grade class of Dawn Supianoski at Coldwater’s Jefferson Elementary School.
