BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, Coldwater remained in a tie for the Interstate 8 lead with a come from behind 53-50 overtime victory at Pennfield. The Cards led 24-16 at the half but found themselves down six entering the fourth quarter and down four with less than a minute left in regulation but were able to force an extra period.
Tyler Scheid had a monster night with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Malorie Rzepka had 15 points and Izzy Foley added eight points while Emilee Smoker pulled down nine rebounds.
Coldwater improves to 15-1 overall and 9-1 in league play and will host Harper Creek on Friday night. Pennfield drops to 13-3 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
In the underclassmen games, Coldwater won the J.V. game 40-15 as they improved to 10-7. Bailey Burkhardt led the Cardinals with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Coldwater also won the freshman game 44-26. Abby Herman led Coldwater with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Madison Beckhusen had nine points,
