COLDWATER, IMI (WTVB) – Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady says it’s up all of us to preserve the solid communities and traditions we enjoy in the county.
O’Grady spoke Tuesday to the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club and said most rural areas are no longer isolated as they once were because of the information age we live in with the internet, a 24-hour news cycle and smartphones. According to O’Grady, we need to be intelligent and understand that we are susceptible to change and many of these changes are not welcome.
As an example, he pointed to the opioid crisis and its impact on rural America, including Branch County.
Judge O’Grady believes the best hope for crime reduction in future generations is a strong family unit with a 2 parent household with proactive, mentoring fathers and mothers. O’Grady said many Rotarians listening to him Tuesday were parents that fit such a family category with successful children.
