COOPERSTOWN, NY (WTVB) – Pitcher Jack Morris and shortstop Alan Trammell, both members of the Detroit Tigers 1984 World Series Championship team, will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame Sunday in Cooperstown, New York.
Morris compiled a record of 254-189 with 2,478 strike outs and a 3.90 ERA during his 18-year career. He was a five time All-Star, won World Series titles with Detroit, Minnesota and twice with Toronto, was the American League strikeout leader in 1983 and pitched a no-hitter in 1984.
Trammell played his entire 20-year MLB career with the Tigers and ended with a .285 batting average, 2,365 hits, 185 home runs and 1,003 RBI. In addition to the World Series Championship in 1984, he went to the All-Star Game six times, won four Golden Glove awards and three Silver Slugger awards.
