COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted during their work session Thursday to bring a pair of staffing requests forward to next week’s meeting.
Juvenile Court Administrator Zachary Rusk is requesting a staff replacement for one of the Youth Specialists in the Juvenile Court Treatment Program. The position opened up when Corrianne Herring accepted a position with the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department.
Rusk says the Youth Specialists act as educators, mentors, counselors and disciplinarians for the delinquents in the program and that one is not adequate from security and staffing perspectives.
The other request came from Commission on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff, who wants to fill two positions for regular part time aides starting next Wednesday. The request is being made to help meet increased demands for in home services and due to the reduced availability of existing staff.
Duff says funds are available in the budget for positions. Regular part time aides would start at $10.45 an hour and work between 20 and 29 hours a week but Duff says the hours are not guaranteed. They are assigned by the supervisor based on the demand and need for service by eligible Branch County residents.
