Raymond “Ray” Frederic Cutler, 101 of Quincy passed
away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In following Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place
and a private burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Cremation
services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Raymond was born March 26, 1918 to Wilbur D. and Alma
(Kelly) Cutler in Whiting, Iowa. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1936
and continued taking business courses at Parsons College. In 1943 he was
drafted into the US Army, proudly serving during WWII in both France and
Germany. He married Grace Elaine Ross on April 15, 1938. She preceded him in
death in 1968. He later met and married Violet Jean Lechlitner on November 9,
1985.
Ray was a hardworking man. He owned his own sales
company for many years before taking a traveling sales and technical position
with Stryker Corporation. Raymond worked well into his 70’s before retiring. He
was a past member of the Fidelity Mason Lodge in Kalamazoo and the Order of
Eastern Star #123.
Ray was a man of faith attending the United Methodist
Church in both Kalamazoo and Quincy. He had many interests including going
antiquing, being a handyman and reading (Violet read a lot of books to him).
Ray had a huge sweet tooth, especially enjoying ice cream and cookies. He will
be remembered for his great sense of humor, as well as being kind, gentle, and
considerate. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially
his grand and great, great grandchildren.
Mr. Cutler is survived by his wife of 33 years, Violet
Jean Cutler of Quincy; his daughter Celeste (Norman “Doug”) Denruyter of
Galeburg; his daughter-in-law Bonnie Cutler of Campbellsville, KY; his
step-children Harold Glick, Pamela (Jim) Chapman and Meena Arvind; his
grandchildren Tammy Torres, Tracy Lasley, Richard (Jessica) Bidwell, Cleve
(Amber) Epperson III, Erik Bidwell, Connie (Steve) Hamilton, Aaryan Arvind and
Aardarsh Arvand; his great grandchildren Andrew, Keeana, Logen, and Noah
Bidwell, Devon Hendrix, Anna (DJ) Hudson, Clara and Louis Innamorato, and
Constance Mueller; and his sister-in-law Helen Lechlitner.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; his first wife Grace Cutler; his son D’Arcy Cutler; his
brothers Kelly, Merle, and Ralph Cutler, and his daughter-in-law Jane Glick.
