David G. Woods, 72, of Tekonsha, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson.
In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public services held. Interment was at Lyon Lake Cemetery. The family is being cared for by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
David was born on June 26, 1946 to Gus and Nora (Collins) Woods in Hyden, KY. On May 27, 1989, he married the love of his life, Barbara Blain, at West Eckford Community Church.
David worked at Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 38 years. He enjoyed fishin’, huntin’, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. David was kind and generous, but also spoke his mind. If you saw him driving to town, he usually had his big white fur baby, Lilly, ridin’ shotgun.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Barb Woods of Tekonsha, his step-children, Melody Smith of MI, Beau (Rachel) Butcher of VA, his grandchildren, Brandi Woods, Autumn , Olivia, and Kylie Smith, Ella and Gwen Butcher, one great-grandson, his brothers Gerald Woods of OH, Skelton (Barb) Woods of NY, Raymond (Wilma) Woods of MI, Paul (Carol) Woods of MI, Randy Woods of AL, sisters, Sally (Johnnie) Sizemore of KY, and Ethel (Kenneth) Cornett of KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael David Woods, and sister Marlene Scherer.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Gone fishin’ with Mike.
