COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved a pair of lease agreements during their monthly meeting Wednesday.
One lease is with Coldwater Community Schools for eight years that would allow the BISD to use a portion of the Lincoln Learning Center on Tibbits Streets for its Head Start program.
The BISD will pay Coldwater $1.00 per year for the term of the lease.
BISD Director of Early Childhood Programs Cindy Rowe said there would be a sharing of space at the building.
The Board also approved a two year lease agreement with the Covenant Church in Girard Township, which is doing business as TREES Church. Rowe said the agreement will be for Early Head Start space and a Head Start classroom at what the former Girard Elementary.
Under terms of the lease, the BISD would reimburse the church just over $3,400 a month. Rowe said they would be moving out of their current space for Early Head Start at the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital as the cost for square footage was getting too high there. She said they would be paying almost four dollars less per square foot at the church.
Rowe pointed out there’s more outdoor space at the church that they can utilize and the parking is better.
