COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education voted Wednesday to put one of their construction trade lots up for sale by public bid, after a neighbor had asked to buy the property last month.
John Arnold approached the board about the property at 10 Michael Drive. Arnold wanted to buy the property outright, and according to Superintendent Kris Jenkins, made a $5,500 offer. But under state law, the district has to put the property up for bid.
Jenkins said if the property is sold, the revived building trades program would still have four lots to build on. She added they don’t have a new instructor for building trades yet, but they were close.
The BISD Board approved a $44,000 bid from the City of Coldwater last October for eight surplus construction trade lots on Thompson Blvd. The city was the lone bidder.
