WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – Seventh District Congressman Tim Walberg has joined four other Michigan Republican House members in blaming fellow Republican Congressman Justin Amash for the Pentagon’s decision to go with Fort Drum in New York as the home of a new missile defense interceptor site over Fort Custer near Battle Creek.
Walberg joined Congressmen Jack Bergman, Bill Huizenga, Paul Mitchell and Fred Upton in issuing a joint statement saying the “consistent opposition” from Amash to all defense spending bills kept Fort Custer from being picked.
The five add the missile defense site could have created 1,800 jobs and brought in a $3.2 billion dollar economic impact.
Amash is also the only Republican in the U.S. House to call for impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
