COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumer’s Energy crews spent most of Monday taking care of power outages throughout Branch County.
The utility says trees that made contact with their electrical lines in the area of the Quincy substation caused an early Monday morning outage that left nearly 1,800 of their Branch County customers without power. The outage was reported at about 3:45 a.m.. Crews were able to make repairs by 6:30 a.m. but the power went out again for about 400 customers after some equipment failed when crews tried to power up the lines.
Power was restored for just about every Branch County customer at about 8:30 a.m.. The original outage covered an area from east of I-69 to near North Ray-Quincy Road and between Jonesville and East Central Roads.
Another outage affecting nearly 500 customers in the Bronson area took place during the afternoon hours. The outages were between North Matteson Lake Road and Behnke Road and between West Colon and West Central Roads.
A Consumers Energy spokesman says the afternoon outage was apprently caused when a truck snagged some overhead lines. Everyone was back on line by 6:00 p.m..
