COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted during their work session Tuesday to bring forward to next week’s meeting formal action on the hiring of two more former 911 dispatchers to fill in at Branch County Central Dispatch on a temporary basis.
Commissioner Terri Norris motioned that the two temporary workers be hired under the same terms that former dispatcher Denny Braucker was brought back at last week.
They would be employed for no more than 160 calendar days at a rate of $22.53 per hour with no benefits.
This will give 911 some scheduling flexibility while three new dispatchers go through their training.
Branch County 911 Central Dispatch was faced with being down to just six dispatchers recently as three dispatchers left for other positions in county government since last October.
The most recent departure was Supervisor Christine Bennett who began work on Monday as the felony clerk in the Prosecutor’s Office.
