COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who is accused of asking for cash from numerous people in the downtown area before he was arrested on drug charges, was told not to do any begging or panhandling whatsoever, as he was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
39-year-old Clayton Brigham entered a no contest plea to being in possession of less than 25 grams of a controlled substance. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed a methamphetamine possession charge.
He was ordered to serve seven months in jail with 171 days credited for time already served.
Brigham was also placed on probation for two years.
He was also told to get mental health treatment and comply with all of the conditions of his sentencing.
