COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man was sentenced to one year in jail for the sexual assault of a 13-year old girl from Girard Township. 27-year old Richard John Terlizzi entered a no-contest plea to Second Degree Child Abuse.
Michigan State Police troopers say the incident occurred in late August 2018.
According to State Police, the victim told her mother she was assaulted and her mom right away took the girl to be examined at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital, which then notified authorities.
Troopers say the suspect and a girlfriend of the mother were living at the residence in Girard Township because of financial hardships faced by Terlizzi. State Police say the other people in the home were sleeping when the alleged attack on the girl happened.
Terlizzi will receive credit for the 260 days he has alredy served, and he will be on probation for five years.
