COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A proposed ordinance that is intended to reduce noise levels during the overnight hours in the City of Coldwater is scheduled to come up for first reading during Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting.
City Attorney Megan Angell put together the proposed ordinance after some Coldwater residents and City Council members expressed an interest in having a noise ordinance in place.
The current noise ordinances covers animals, peace disturbances, disorderly conduct and sound systems in motor vehicles.
The proposed ordinance would expand on the prohibitions currently in place and would be effective between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m..
Angell has included in her proposed ordinance up to $500 in fines and jail time up to 90 days. She has also given the Council the option of making violations civil infractions with a fine or schedule of fines.
