JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy is still working to restore power for Michigan residents following severe thunderstorms. The power company reported on Monday morning that around 46,000 customers were without power, with at least half of those being in West Michigan.
Garrick Rochow, with Consumers Energy, said crews are trying to manage the outages caused by the unexpected size of the storms.
The Consumers Energy website outage page showed 72 customers along Burr Oak Road north of Bronson were without power. There were 465 outages in Calhoun County. Over 900 customers in northern Branch County originally lost power after the early Saturday morning storm.
Kent County had the highest number of outages. Consumers said some residents could be without power until Tuesday after the storms had brought down more than 2,800 power lines.
Great Lakes Energy is also dealing with several thousand power outages.
