UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City area “Giving Tree” project is being called a big success once again this year, as generous residents donated over 430 Christmas gifts in hopes of brightening Christmas for those who are in need.
A total of 28 families and 72 children were helped.
According to a posting on the Village of Union City’s Facebook page, there were so many donations, every child will get five or more gifts.
Those who wanted to helped simply stopped by the Village office and sponsored an area youngster by selecting a tag off the Giving Tree.
Criteria for sponsorship required that the children be under the age of 18 and have a genuine financial family need.
They must also live in Union City and/or attend Union City Schools.
Personal information is not shared with sponsors.
The Village of Union City would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone that helped brighten a family’s Christmas – whether you adopted a family, donated items, or just helped spread the word about the program.
