COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There were fewer vehicles and materials collected compared to last year at the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day that was held in late September at the Branch County Fairgrounds.
It was reported during last week’s CBPU Board of Directors meeting that 204 vehicles showed up which included 113 from the City of Coldwater. That’s down from the 312 vehicles that showed up in 2018.
Since latex paint was not collected this year, the total amount collected was 17,220 pounds compared to 27,705 pounds in the previous year.
Last year’s collection included over 10,000 pounds of latex paint.
The total cost to the B.P.U. came out to just over $13,500, down about $200 from last year.
Besides the City of Coldwater, the participants this year were the Village of Quincy and the City of Bronson as well as Algansee, Bronson, Coldwater, Kinderhook and Ovid Townships.
