GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys basketball team could not make a fast start endure Friday night as they lost to Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern 68-53 as part of the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament in Grand Rapids.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 18-6 lead after the first quarter and were ahead 32-23 at the half. But for the second straight game, things went bad for Coldwater in the third quarter as Forest Hills Northern outscored the Cardinals 24-3 to take a 47-35 lead.
A 21-18 fourth quarter for Forest Hills Northern closed out the game and dropped the Cardinals overall record to 1-3.
Ethan Crabtree and Dylan Targgart both scored 17 points to lead the Cardinals while Brandon Downs added 14 points. Austin Santure had 11 rebounds and three steals while Spencer Rodesiler had five assists.
The Cardinals will face Kenowa Hills in a consolation game at 7:00 p.m. Monday night.
Bronson dropped to 1-3 after they lost to Bellevue 59-35 as part of the Chuck Turner Holiday Classic at Battle Creek Central.
Connor Covey and Aden Hathaway both scored nine points to lead the Vikings.
