GRAND RAPIDS – (WTVB) – Both of the Coldwater High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams teams will be playing in consolation games Monday as part of the Cornerstone University High School Holiday Tournament.
The Lady Cardinals will take on Grand Rapids Catholic Central at 4:00 p.m. while the boys will face Kenowa Hills at 7:00 p.m.. The Union City boys basketball team lost to Battle Creek St. Philip 54-50 as part of the Chuck Turner Holiday Classic at Battle Creek.
Nolan Shaffer led the Chargers with 14 points as he hit four buckets from beyond the arc. Avery Stuart added 13 points which included three three-pointers and Kyle Johnson had 10 points. James Bigelow grabbed eight rebounds.
The Chargers are now 2-4 on the season.
Also as part of the Chuck Turner Holiday Classic, the Union City girls basketball team won their first game of the season as they defeated Battle Creek St. Philip 34-30.
