ROCKFORD, MI (WTVB) – Three Coldwater gymnasts earned medals on Saturday at the Rockford Flip Flop Invitational.
The Cardinals finished seventh in the final team standings as they collected their third straight team M.H.S.A.A. Regional qualifying score with a season high total of 132.375 points.
Coldwater’s B team finished in 14th.
Layla Schoch, Abby Travelbee, and Leah Goodwin earned medals on the bars, beam, floor exercise and all around events.
Travelbee led Coldwater on the balance beam with a 5th place finish.
Schoch was top scorer in floor exercise with her fourth place finish while Goodwin finished fifth.
Goodwin performed her signature vault for the first time this year and just missed the awards stand as she finished in sixth place.
In the All-Around competition, Coldwater saw two gymnasts on the podium for the overall meet results. Schoch finished fourth with her all-around score of 33.35 points. Travelbee was fifth at 33.3 points.
Coldwater will host the Saline Hornets for the home opener and second conference matchup on Wednesday at 6PM in the auxiliary gym. The Cardinals will host parent’s night and their annual Jillian Crist Memorial meet. The Lady Cards ask that attendees bring a bottle of ketchup or barbecue sauce to donate to the local food pantry in honor of their former teammate.
