COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bryan, Ohio woman who was accused of taking money from four local bank accounts belonging to the Girls Scouts of America is scheduled to appear in Branch County Circuit Court January 27, 2020 to formally enter into a plea agreement with the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
A total of 33 charges were initially filed against 36-year-old Kathy Jo Contreras.
Prosecutors initially filed 11 counts each of forgery, uttering and publishing and identify theft.
Contreras waived her preliminary exam which was scheduled for Tuesday in Branch County District Court. Details of the plea agreement were not immediately known on Tuesday.
According to court documents, Contreras is accused of withdrawing a total of $1,280 from the accounts on 11 occasions without authorization.
A Michigan State Police investigating into her alleged wrong doing started in May and a warrant for her arrest was issued October 17, 2019
Contreras is free on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond and she is free to live in Ohio during the legal proceedings.
