LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is scheduled to deliver her second State of the State speech January 28, 2020, and 58th District State Representative Eric Leutheuser expects a more bipartisian tone this year.
He says she was checking off boxes from her campaign for governor during last year’s speech.
Whitmer is expected to reveal new proposals to raise at least $1.5 billion to fix Michigan’s roads after her proposed 45 cent gas tax hike got virtually no support from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.
Leutheuser expects the Democratic Governor to offer a willingness to work with Republican lawmakers during her speech in three weeks.
