GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A faulty bathroom ventilation fan is being listed by Coldwater fire officials as the cause of a Wednesday morning fire at a Girard Township home on the west side of Craig Lake.
The Coldwater Fire Department was called to 235 Treasure Lane just before 7:00 a.m..
Light smoke was found in the structure owned by Mary Lou Ansari when the first unit arrived. A small fire was then found in the bathroom ceiling
Off duty Coldwater firefighters also responded.
Tekonsha firefighters were initially called for water but were disregarded. The fire was called under control at 7:18 a.m. and crews remained at the scene for another hour.
No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $6,000.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department, the Branch County Victim Services Unit, and Lifecare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
