COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The first candidates for the August 4, 2020 Primary have officially filed at the Branch County Clerk’s Office.
Former County Commissioner Jon Houtz has filed to run in the Republican Primary for the Board of Commissioners 4th District seat, which encompasses Wards One, Two, and Three in the City of Coldwater.
Houtz lost in the 2016 G.O.P. Primary to former Sheriff and current County Commission Chair Ted Gordon.
Meanwhile, Johnny Lopez has officially filed to run in the Republican Primary against Sheriff John Pollack after he announced his candidacy last week. Pollack defeated Lopez for Sheriff in 2012 when Lopez ran as a Democrat.
The filing deadline to get on the August Primary ballot is April 21, 2020.
