COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater wrapped up their second Interstate 8 boys basketball conference championship in three years with a 65-49 win against Jackson Lumen Christi in front of a large Senior Night crowd at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
The Cardinals led by only two, 29-27, at the halftime break, but outscored the Titans 18-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Ethan Crabtree led all scorers with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Brandon Downs had 15 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Dylan Targgart posted 10 points and 5 rebounds, Austin Santure finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks, and team manager Collin Stevens, our McDonald’s Player of the Game, suited up and scored on a late layup.
Coldwater improved to 13-6 overall and closed out league play at 11-3, a game ahead of second-place Parma Western, two ahead of Pennfield, and three up on Harper Creek. The Cardinals will host Portage Central next Thursday in the regular season finale.

READING, MI (WTVB) – There’s now a tie atop the Big 8 boys basketball standings. Quincy avenged a 12-point home loss to Reading on January 31st by beating the Rangers 54-47 at the Kerspilo Gymnasium in Reading.
William Dunn led the Orioles with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks, while Kyler Economou had 18 points and 5 boards. Porter Mauk had 13 points to lead the Rangers.
Quincy and Reading are now at 11-2 in the Big 8 with the last league games of the season coming up next Tuesday – the Orioles at Jonesville, the Rangers at third-place Homer. Quincy improved to 15-3 overall with the win.
