COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former Athens Area Schools teacher who has already been convicted in Calhoun County of having sex with a student was sentenced on Monday in Branch County for an incident with the same student in Sherwood Township.
32-year-old Tyler David Millward was ordered to serve five-and-a-half to 15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections after entering a guilty plea to third degree criminal sexual conduct. Three other third degree CSC counts were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty plea.
Millward was given credit for 174 days for time already served. The Branch County sentence will run concurrently with other sentences he is serving.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections website, the earliest Millward can get out of prison is November 2025. If he serves the maximum time, he will be locked up until October 2038.
He is serving time on four convictions in Calhoun County. The convictions were for bribing or intimidating a witness, third degree criminal sexual conduct, lying to a peace officer and using a computer to commit a crime.
Millward also has a third degree criminal sexual conduct conviction in St. Joseph County.
