LANSING, MI (WTVB) – There are now over 1,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the State of Michigan just 12 days after the first cases in the state were reported.
The death toll has now reached nine. The latest person to die was an elderly man with underlying health issues. He died on Sunday at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor.
There have been four deaths in the City of Detroit. Other deaths have been confirmed in Kent, Macomb, Oakland and in Wayne County outside of Detroit.
There were 249 new cases reported in the state on Sunday afternoon which brought the total number of Michigan cases to 1,035.
The first two cases have been reported in Calhoun County. No cases have been confirmed yet in Branch, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph Counties. At least one case has been reported in 32 Michigan Counties.
The City of Detroit has had the most confirmed cases reported with 325 followed by Oakland County with 277, Wayne County outside of the City of Detroit with 152, Macomb County with 140, Washtenaw County with 35 and Kent County with 20.
