CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Unified Law Enforcement says they now have guidance on enforcement of the Governor’s executive order concerning essential businesses.
There has been some confusion since the order was issed which businesses can remain open and which have to close because they are deemed non-essential.
The six police agencies in Calhoun County will begin enforcing the executive order based on additional information and legal guidance from the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office.
After a complaint is made to police that a business may not be in compliance with the Governor’s order, law enforcement will try to contact the business and provide support and education regarding the Governor’s order.
If still that business is still not in compliance, police will issue a Cease and Desist Letter as a notice. A non-compliant business could also get a citation for violation of the Executive Order which is a criminal misdemeanor punishable by 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
