COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Economic Growth Alliance is trying to reassure area residents that many of Branch County’s largest food supply employers are operating as essential businesses and are taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
It was stated in a press release issued on Friday that Clemens Food Group, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Mastronardi Produce, ConAgra Foods, and others are among those continuing to operate safely and efficiently as demand for their products and services remains high.
Clemens Food Group is the second largest employer in Branch County with over 900 employees. Executive Director of Operations Joe Hughes says they are taking any and all necessary safety procedures, as recommended by the CDC, such as mandatory temperature checks, mandatory use of enhanced protective equipment, rapid response deep cleaning teams, and limited guests and visitors.
Mastronardi Produce President and C.E.O. Paul Mastronardi says they have made several changes which include remote work-from-home policies where possible. For employees who need to remain on-site, Mastronardi says they have updated their cleaning, sanitation, shift schedule and workspace policies.
