COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Saturday they have been informed of the 11th person to die in Hillsdale County because of COVID-19.
The report also showed there have been 36 positive cases in Branch County outside of the Lakeland Correctional Facility as one additional case was reported on Saturday.
There have been 88 positive cases in Hillsdale County and 25 cases in St. Joseph County.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department said on Saturday there have been 136 positive cases in their jurisdiction with 42 persons requiring hospitalization.
The C.H.A. says as more testing becomes available and with the criteria for testing having been relaxed, there is an increased number of positive cases being identified. They say it is important for residents to understand the true picture of the disease in the three counties and that this is still the time to be vigilant about maintaining social distancing practices.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 768 additional COVID-19 cases on Saturday with 81 additional deaths. The total number of confirmed cases is now up to 30,791 with 2,308 deaths.
There have been 3,237 persons in Michigan who have recovered from the virus as of Friday. The M.D.H.H.S. says the number of persons recovered as of Friday represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals who had an onset date on or prior to March 18.
