COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater’s Planning Commission suggested a few changes Monday night to City Planner Dean Walrack on the proposed Recreational Marijuana Establishment Ordinances during a nearly two hour electronic meeting.
Changes included having no retail establishments in an industrial park, no microbusinesses would be allowed in the city and no sales would be allowed between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m..
The ordinances call for all establishments to be operated within the D-2 Heavy Industrial District. They must be at least 1,000 feet from K-12 schools and preschools and 500 feet from residentially zoned properties.
Walrack says the ordinances create a framework for allowing recreational marijuana establishments within the City.
He is hoping a Public Hearing can be held during the Planning Commission meeting on June first.
The Planning Commission would then make a recommendation to the City Council. The ordinance is scheduled to be introduced during the June 8 City Council meeting with final adoption scheduled for June 22.
