COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A one year contract between the City of Coldwater and the union representing the city’s firefighters was approved on Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
It includes a three percent salary increase for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
City Manager Keith Baker says this is in keeping with the City’s budget projections and the wage increase provided to non-union employees with the city.
The agreement with Local No. 2555 International Association of Fire Fighters includes a language clarification as to how union dues are collected from employees and distributed to the union in accordance with a court ruling since the last agreement was approved.
A one year deal was suggested since negotiation time was lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic related shut down and there was a desire to review other terms of the agreement that would take more time to discuss.
