COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Obstetrics Unit at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital was recently recognized for doing their part to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity.
The OB unit was awarded the Michigan Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health 2019 Quality Improvement Silver Award.
The Alliance is a state and national data-driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiative.
The OB unit at ProMedica has prioritized two safety bundles for implementation. The current bundles include the Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy and Obstetric Hemorrhage.
Registered Nurse Dusti Dunbrock says “We do this to increase maternal safety. Hypertension and hemorrhaging can have serious complications, or even death, during birth. It can cause permanent damage and long-term issues later in life.”
