COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Zoning Board of Appeals approved a request from Clemens Food Group on Wednesday for a variance from a Zoning Ordinance to install additional signage on the Newton Road property.
City Planner Dean Walrack said Clemens wanted to add 95 square feet of signage to the existing 140 square foot façade sign on the southwest face of the building.
Walrack said the Neighborhood Services Department staff recommended the variance be approved and that the request was justified by the scale of the site and the buildings upon it which are drastically larger than other Heavy Industrial parcels.
In addition, Walrack said the staff felt the request will allow Clemens to sufficiently advertise their business similar to other heavy industrial developments; that the variance will not be of detriment to neighboring properties; that the variance will not be of special privilege; and that the request is not excessive.
Chris Lennon from Clemens said they plan to install a Hatfield sign below the existing Clemens Food Group sign since Hatfield is one of their brands and is also the location of their headquarters.
In other business during a brief meeting, the Z.B.A. agreed to continue meeting at 4:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month during 2021.
