COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a major and local street maintenance proposal from the Branch County Road Commission on Monday but they removed work on Seeley Street between Michigan Avenue and Thompson Boulevard from the list to get an actual paving estimate instead of having chip sealing work performed on it.
Streets scheduled to get chip seal work done are Grahl Drive from Michigan Avenue to its end along with Fairground Drive between Sprague and Jefferson at a total cost of over $11,300.
Chip seal work is performed on streets with minimal residential traffic that do not have curbs and gutters.
Crack filling is scheduled to be performed on Marshall between State and U.S. 12, on State from Marshall to Grand, on Grand from State to Marshall and on West Clarke from Grand to Marshall at a cost of over $22,500. That type of work is performed on streets that have recently been paved or reconstructed in order to prevent deterioration and prolong a useful life.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker says the City of Bronson has been using the Road Commission for the past two summers and have been pleased with the cost savings and quality of their work.
