COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – The former Taylor’s Stationers building will undergo an inspection sometime during the next few days.
Coldwater Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden told the Downtown Development Authority on Wednesday that the city’s building inspector and Fire Marshal will go through the building and mark what items are not up to current code so they can get a ballpark idea on how much the renovation costs will be.
Lisa Miller from the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance says they are getting quotes from a firm on building development costs.
Right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the D.D.A. released a “Request for Qualifications” as they sought developers who wanted to renovate the building at 60 West Chicago Street.
The three-story building was bought by the D.D.A. late last year in hopes of encouraging downtown development.
The building has been empty since the spring of 2016 when Taylor’s Stationers owners Howard and Lola Taylor retired.
