BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – The Calhoun County Public Health Department reported its first COVID-19 related death in almost two weeks on Wednesday.
It was the 43rd person to die in Calhoun County after testing positive for the virus.
There have been 820 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Calhoun County since the pandemic started with 35 new cases reported on Wednesday.
Calhoun County officials are trying to assure residents that Wednesday’s unusually high daily case number reflects a backlog of data that was reported to the Public Health Department.
About 20 cases were reported by a lab and were not reflective of an average daily case count nor are they due to a Calhoun County outbreak event.
