MARSHALL, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – More details have been released by law enforcement officials about the violent Tuesday afternoon standoff at a home southeast of Marshall.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 47-year-old Casper Brown was shot and killed by police in an attached garage which brought the four hour standoff in the 20000 block of Division Drive to a conclusion.
Michigan State Police First Lt. Chuck Christensen says he died from a single gunshot wound.
Several weapons were inside of the home that was broken into.
The long afternoon for police began after there was a report of a home invasion. Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley says the suspect fired at officers and that a patrol car from the Albion Department of Public Safety was struck.
None of the police officers from numerous area agencies who responded were injured in the incident which is still under investigation by the State Police.
