COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that the Michigan State Police will be adjusting their coverage in Branch County during the daytime hours starting this fall.
Pollack said he and Undersheriff Keith Eichler met recently with State Police First Lt. Jim Coleman from the Marshall post who explained the staffing issues they are going through right now due to state budget adjustments.
The State Police have had Troopers covering Branch County 24 hours a day for at least the late five years.
While there will be limited M.S.P. coverage during the daytime, there will be more coverage during the afternoon and night hours.
Meanwhile, Pollack told Commissioners they have not gotten any response yet from the ads they are running to fill deputy positions. The 2020 budget approved by County Commissioners last December allowed for the hiring of two additional road patrol deputies.
