BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Bowling alleys across Michigan will be allowed to open starting on Wednesday with COVID-19 protocols in place.
Outside of the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula, bowling alleys and centers have been closed since March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
They made the list of venues under an executive order signed by Governor Whitmer that may open. It stated, “bowling alleys, roller rinks, and ice rinks may be open for the sole purpose of serving as a venue for organized sports”.
When bowlers are not on the lanes, they have to be six feet from one another and they must wear masks at all times.
Each athlete will be allowed no more than two guests. The executive order also stated, “for indoor organized sports, sports organizers must ensure that no concessions are sold at the venue.”
Bronson Strike Zone owner Nate Cranson says their restaurant will re-open on Tuesday while the bowling alley will re-open on Wednesday morning. Midway Lanes in Coldwater plans to reopen their restaurant on Thursday with the bowling center scheduled to reopen next Monday, September 14.
