ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident which took place Sunday night west of Angola.
The fatal victim has been identified as 42-year-old James C. “Curtis” Dameron of Wolcottville, Indiana.
Troopers say the crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of South West Fox Lake Road when Dameron’s motorcycle went off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
Dameron was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates Dameron failed to negotiate a slight curve in the road. The motorcycle then went down on its side and struck a guide wire before hitting the utility pole.
Troopers report Dameron was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Dameron had served as a reserve officer with the Wolcottville Town Marshal’s office since 2012.
